Helmut Huber, who died in March 2022 aged 84, was a husband, father and grandfather, a friend and a passionate conservationist. A successful producer, businessman and chef Huber also created his career in California and was always a loyal and supportive husband for the famous woman.
That was a real love story of an acknowledged professional, his whole life is full of ambition and devoted work, but most of all, it is a story of love that had been lasting more than half a century.
Early Life
Born in Austria in the year 1937, Huber was young during some of the most trying periods for the European continent. His early years were those of post-World War II and it gave him the work culture and character to face future complexities of his life.
During his youth, Huber’s special interest became cookery, and therefore, he decided to receive professional education in the sphere. With such passion towards his goal Huber became the youngest apprentice chef in Austria which set the start of his versatile career.
Further, his early contact with the hospitality industry help him learn adequate management and customer service s kills which he would have been useful all his working years.
Career
Huber formed his culinary expertise in Austria, he further his career in Switzerland was before transferring to North America to begin constructing his excellent professional record. He first served as the executive chef at the Garden City Hotel in Long Island, New York though his abilities in the management of fine dining specialty hotels were quite visible.
However, cooking was not the only perspective to Huber’s career in terms of cooking show was also famous among the viewers. He was also an example for a great business mind and resourcefulness as he moved with ease from the railway business to hotel management and later to television production.
Huber was able to also align himself well with the entertainment industry once Susan Lucci’s career in television gained momentum becoming her manager and CEO of Pine Valley Productions.

Helmut Huber married Susan Lucci, and their love story started at the Garden City Hotel. Lucci was waitressing for her job in the meantime and Huber was the Executive Chef at that hotel. Their introduction was a love affair which would make them man and wife for over half a Century until the death of Joseph S. Barnhart in 2022.
They had the kind of love where they support each other and try to understand each other’s works. He was able to bring the business savvy and understanding of the field to bear towards guiding her through her career and family.
This couple’s story was one of hope and encouragement to give each other full support in each person’s endeavors as the two created their life together. Helmut Huber died recently but he is remembered not only for the successes he achieved in his working career but also for the positive change that he brought to his family and the entertainment fraternity.
