Education and Spiritual Journey

Prudence showed early interest in spirituality and philosophy and received an appropriate education. At the University of California, Berkeley, she received her master’s in teaching Transcendental Meditation (TM).

In 1968, Prudence’s spiritual path brought her to Rishikesh, India, where she studied TM under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi alongside her sister, actress Mia Farrow. While at this retreat, Prudence became deeply engrossed in meditation, inspiring John Lennon to write “Dear Prudence,” urging her to “come out to play.” The song remains one of the Beatles’ most popular tracks, and made Prudence a pop culture icon.

Career in Film and Teaching

Prudence Farrow is a film producer, writer and educator. Her film work includes producing credits on “Widow’s Peak” (1994), starring her sister Mia Farrow. Prudence has also dabbled into storytelling and screenwriting.

In addition, Prudence Farrow has devoted much of her life teaching and promoting Transcendental Meditation. As a certified TM instructor, she has taught meditation to people worldwide, focusing on its benefits for mental clarity and spiritual growth.

Marriage and Family

Prudence married Albert Bruns in the 1970s, and has three children. Her family has largely stayed out of the public eye, allowing them to lead private, fulfilling lives.

Siblings and Their Careers

Prudence is one of seven children, and several of her siblings have achieved fame in their own right, most notably Mia Farrow.

Mia Farrow

Mia Farrow is an actress, humanitarian and advocate. She has more than six decades of acting experience including in “Rosemary’s Baby” (1968), “The Great Gatsby” (1974), and “Hannah and Her Sisters” (1986). Mia also works on children’s rights in conflict zones for UNICEF.

Tisa Farrow

Prudence’s other sister, Tisa Farrow, also worked in acting in the 1970s and 1980s. Her career was modest but memorable, appearing in films like “Homer” (1970) and “Zombie” (1979). She retired from acting in 1970.

Parents and Family Legacy

Prudence’s parents, Maureen O’Sullivan and John Farrow, were pivotal figures in Hollywood’s golden age.

Her mother, Maureen O’Sullivan, was one of the greatest actresses of her era. She had a successful decades-long career as Jane in the Tarzan series, opposite Johnny Weissmuller. She also starred in classics like the “Thin Man” (1934) and “Hannah and Her Sisters” (1986), where she reunited with her daughter Mia.
