5 Top Tips for a Healthier LifestyleThere is currently a global health & wellness trend, as more and more people are looking for a healthier way of living. The 21st-century lifestyle allows us to become lazy, and consuming too much processed food is not conducive to optimum health & well-being. It is easy to slip into unhealthy routines, and the best time to start making positive changes is right now.

If you are looking to become a healthier person, in this short article, we offer some great tips to help you lead a healthier lifestyle.

  1. Create a fitness regime– Physical fitness is essential if you want a healthy lifestyle, and you can start by developing a daily fitness routine. Make sure it is suitable for your age and physical condition, and as you progress, you can increase the intensity of your workout. You could invest in a mountain bike and take daily rides along country roads, which is a lot of fun. Jogging is another great way to stay fit, and when coupled with a weight training program, you become stronger. If you find working out difficult, hire a personal trainer and he/she will ensure that you smash your fitness goals. A personal trainer can create a suitable workout routine, help you come up with a good weekly diet plan, and also motivate you through a gruelling exercise session.
  2. Make positive changes to your diet– Rather than drinking lots of coffee, you can switch to herbal tea (this is commonly referred to as ชาสมุนไพร in Thai) that is high in antioxidants and good for your blood pressure. It is a good idea to limit your sugar intake, or better still, cut sugar out of your diet completely, and this will make you feel much healthier. Make sure to include fresh fruit and vegetables in your diet; fruit smoothies are not only delicious, but they are also very healthy. If you are aged 40 or over, supplement your diet with a daily A-Z tablet that contains the essential vitamins and minerals that your body needs. If you are lacking in nutrients, this will have a negative impact on your immune system, and you can get sick very easily. Gourmet food delivery is available, and you can find suppliers online.
  3. Limit your alcohol intake– If you are a regular drinker, cutting down on your alcohol consumption is a healthy choice. Count the number of alcohol units you typically consume in a week and adjust your routine accordingly; you won’t regret this, and cutting alcohol out of your life is even better. Be honest in your assessment, and if you feel that drinking is impacting your life, it is time to take action and either reduce or eliminate alcohol from your life.
  4. Take up yoga– Yoga has become very popular in Thailand, and there are many yoga studios in and around Bangkok, where you can learn one-on-one from a qualified yoga instructor. There are many yoga videos on YouTube that you can follow; simply buy a yoga mat, wear suitable clothing and start with 20 minutes per day, which you can build up as you become more proficient. Yoga develops you physically, mentally and spiritually; those who practice this eastern discipline report an elevated mood and yoga is known to reduce stress.
  5. Practice meditation– Meditation is very beneficial in several ways, and there are many ways to meditate; some people meditate lying down, some sit in a cross-legged pose, while others meditate while walking. There are some great resources online that are completely free, and if you find it difficult to sit quietly with your thoughts, persevere, and you will eventually enjoy success. It is important to find a comfortable posture when meditating, and by experimenting with different techniques, you should find that meditation is very beneficial in numerous ways.

You might need to make some radical lifestyle changes to become healthier, but this is definitely worthwhile. Mental health is a critical factor in overall good health & well-being, and if you are stressed and anxious, this is something you need to work on. Start by making dietary changes, then begin your fitness routine, monitor your progress, and you should see improvements within the first couple of weeks.
